YAML to JSON Converter MCP Server
A deterministic formatting and conversion Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that enables autonomous agents to flawlessly translate complex configurations between YAML and JSON syntax, completely bypassing LLM formatting hallucinations.
The White-Space Hallucination Problem
When AI agents manage infrastructure code (like Kubernetes manifests, Docker Compose files, or GitHub Actions), they frequently struggle with YAML's strict, whitespace-sensitive syntax. An LLM attempting to convert a deeply nested 2,000-line JSON response into YAML will inevitably drop an indentation level, corrupting the entire deployment file.
The Deterministic Parser
The YAML-JSON Converter MCP solves this by leveraging an industry-standard, strict AST (Abstract Syntax Tree) parser. Instead of prompting the AI to manually rewrite the format—which burns massive token context and invites syntax errors—the agent simply passes the raw string to this server. The output is a mathematically perfect translation, ready for deployment.
Agentic Tools
-
convert_yaml_to_json- Function: Safely parses complex YAML structures and outputs strict, minified, or pretty-printed JSON.
- Use Case: Allowing an agent to read an existing
docker-compose.ymlfile, convert it to JSON, modify the dictionary natively, and convert it back.
-
convert_json_to_yaml- Function: Translates JSON objects back into cleanly formatted, highly readable YAML.
Run on Vinkius Edge (Free Edge Hosting)
Vinkius provides free, highly available edge hosting using secure V8 isolates. Deploying to the Vinkius Edge is the fastest way to make this MCP server accessible to any AI agent anywhere, with sub-millisecond response times and zero maintenance.
- Clone this repository
- Run the deployment command:
npx mcpfusion deploy
That's it. Your MCP server is now live, secure, and ready to be connected to your agents.
