README

SW Toolbox MCP

Local MCP hub for SW Toolbox. Agents call compress_image instead of writing a script. Files stay on the machine.

Install is free. Paid tools need a Pro key. Without SW_TOOLBOX_KEY, the hub only registers compress_image. Buy SW Toolbox Pro ($15 once) and paste the Polar SW-TBX-… key.

Start from the Chrome extension

Chrome cannot spawn Node itself. Once:

npx -y github:simonwong201293/tools-mcp install-host --extension-id=YOUR_EXTENSION_ID

(YOUR_EXTENSION_ID is on chrome://extensions with Developer mode on, or copied from the Agent tab.) Then Start hub in the SW Toolbox Agent panel launches a detached process on http://127.0.0.1:17321/mcp. Paste the HTTP JSON the panel copies into Cursor.

Use with Cursor (stdio, no extension)

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "sw-toolbox": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "github:simonwong201293/tools-mcp"],
      "env": {
        "SW_TOOLS_GROUPS": "images",
        "SW_TOOLBOX_KEY": "SW-TBX-your-pro-key"
      }
    }
  }
}

Omit SW_TOOLBOX_KEY for the free compress demo. SW_TOOLS_GROUPS is a comma list: images, pdf, data (ignored until a valid key is set).

Groups (Pro)

Group Tools
images compress_image, convert_image, resize_image, strip_exif, heic_convert
pdf merge_pdf, split_pdf, images_to_pdf
data format_json, view_csv, make_qr, color_palette

HTTP MCP (serve)

npx github:simonwong201293/tools-mcp serve

Binds 127.0.0.1:17321:

  • GET /health — Agent panel probe
  • POST /shutdown — Agent panel Stop
  • /mcp — Streamable HTTP MCP (what Cursor uses when the hub is already running)

Mint keys (owner)

node scripts/mint-pro-key.mjs 1
node scripts/mint-pro-key.mjs 1 20

Keep PRO_SECRET in sync with src/license.ts and web-tools-ext/src/lib/mcp/license.ts.

Develop

npm install
npm run build
node dist/index.js
