README

MedSync AI — an MCP for real-time emergency medical coordination

MedSync AI is an MCP application that helps emergency responders, paramedics, and hospital staff coordinate faster during medical crises — from single-patient triage to mass casualty events.

Model Context Protocol Built with Nitrostack Status

MedSync AI is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that extends AI assistants — like Claude, Cursor, and any MCP-compatible client — with new, real-world capabilities. It is built and deployed on Nitrostack, the fastest way to build, deploy, and share MCP apps.

⚠️ Demo data notice: all hospitals, doctors, ambulances, and donors in src/data/*.json are fictional, illustrative records (loosely set around Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu) — not real facilities or people. Replace with a real data source (hospital APIs, a proper database) before any real-world use. This is a coordination tool, not a substitute for calling local emergency services, and medication guidance is reference-only — always confirm with a clinician before administering anything.

Overview

MedSync AI is an MCP application that helps emergency responders, paramedics, and hospital staff coordinate faster during medical crises — from single-patient triage to mass casualty events.

It brings together five coordinated tools: a Mass Casualty Simulator that models resource and hospital allocation for multi-casualty incidents; a Quick Triage Checker that classifies patient severity and suggests the right specialty from reported symptoms; Medication Guidance that surfaces reference-level treatment guidance (with clear clinical disclaimers) for both major emergencies and common ailments like fever or minor cuts; Blood Donor Outreach that matches and notifies eligible, consenting donors near a given location by blood type; and an Emergency Plan Generator that produces a full coordinated response plan for an incident, pulling together ambulance dispatch, hospital capacity, and staffing in one place.

Built on real-time backend services (dispensary, donor, location, hospital, and activity tracking) with a live dashboard, MedSync AI is designed for the moments when minutes matter — giving responders a single coordinated view instead of juggling separate systems for triage, medication reference, blood supply, and dispatch.

It's for EMS teams, hospital emergency departments, and disaster-response coordinators who need fast, reliable decision support without replacing clinical judgment — every medication suggestion carries a clear "reference only, confirm before administering" disclaimer, and donor contact details stay masked until a hospital actually needs to reach them.

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants securely connect to external tools, data sources, and services. Instead of being limited to what it was trained on, an AI model can call MCP servers to fetch live data, run actions, and integrate with real systems.

This project is one such MCP server. Learn more about building and shipping MCP apps at nitrostack.ai.

Features

  • 🔌 MCP-native — works with any MCP-compatible client (Claude, Cursor, and more)
  • 🚑 Mass Casualty Simulator — models resource and hospital allocation for multi-casualty incidents
  • 🩺 Quick Triage Checker — classifies severity and suggests specialty from reported symptoms
  • 💊 Medication Guidance — reference-level treatment guidance with clinical disclaimers
  • 🩸 Blood Donor Outreach — matches and notifies eligible, consenting donors by blood type and location
  • 📋 Emergency Plan Generator — full coordinated response plan combining dispatch, capacity, and staffing
  • Deployed on Nitrostack — reliable, hosted, and instantly shareable
  • 🔐 Secure by design — donor contact details stay masked; secrets stay in environment variables, never in code

Getting Started

Prerequisites

  • Node.js 18+
  • An MCP-compatible client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, etc.) — optional, only needed to connect an AI assistant to the tools

Installation

git clone https://github.com/avinashnaidu2131-gif/medsync-ai.git
cd medsync-ai
npm install
npm run widget:install

Configuration

Copy the example environment file and set your own admin key:

cp .env.example .env

MEDSYNC_ADMIN_KEY protects the /api/admin/reset demo-data-reset endpoint. Pick any strong random string — this isn't provided by a third party, you're defining it yourself. If it's left unset, that endpoint refuses all requests rather than falling back to a default key.

Build

npm run build

Run (development)

npm run dev

This starts the MCP server (STDIO transport) and the widget dashboard at http://localhost:3001.

Run (production)

After building, you can also start the compiled server directly:

npm start

Connect to an MCP Client

Add this server to your MCP client configuration. A typical entry looks like:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "medsync-ai": {
      "url": "https://medsync-ai-6a5-astra-agents-amrita-university-amritapuri-campus.app.nitrocloud.ai"
    }
  }
}

Restart your client and the tools from this MCP server will be available to your AI assistant.

Deploy Your Own MCP App

Want to build and ship an MCP server like this one? Nitrostack lets you create, deploy, and host MCP apps in minutes — no infrastructure to manage.

FAQ

What is an MCP server?

An MCP server implements the Model Context Protocol to expose tools, resources, and prompts that AI assistants can call. It lets an AI model take real actions and access live data.

What does MedSync AI do?

MedSync AI is an MCP application that helps emergency responders, paramedics, and hospital staff coordinate faster during medical crises — from single-patient triage to mass casualty events, using five coordinated tools covering triage, medication guidance, blood donor outreach, mass casualty simulation, and emergency plan generation.

Which AI clients does this work with?

Any MCP-compatible client, including Claude Desktop and Cursor. New clients are adding MCP support regularly.

How do I deploy my own MCP app?

Use Nitrostack to build, deploy, and host MCP apps without managing infrastructure.
