End User Manual – MCP Server for Cursor

Introduction

This manual guides end users on how to use the MCP Server with Cursor in a simple and straightforward way. It focuses on how to operate and interact with the features rather than technical setup, build, or deployment instructions. Just follow these steps to take full advantage of the MCP Server functionalities within Cursor, If you want to setup please read SETUP_README.md.


1. What is MCP Server Used For?

Our MCP Server is an extension for Cursor that helps automate tasks such as:

  • Supporting new employee onboarding
  • Providing guidance on the company intranet system
  • Submitting time-off requests and advance leave requests
  • Quickly booking meeting rooms

2. How to Use MCP Server in Cursor

Step 1: Open the Chat Interface

  • Press Ctrl + I to open the Chat interface in Cursor.

Step 2: Ensure “Agent Mode” is Enabled

  • The MCP Server only works when Agent Mode is enabled.
  • Check the interface corner to make sure this mode is active.

Step 3: Use the Available Tools

Once Agent Mode is on, you will have access to these tools:

  • employee-onboarding-ptn: Helps with the new employee onboarding process.
  • intranet-guide-ptn: Answers questions about the company intranet.
  • time-off-request: Submit regular time-off requests.
  • advance-leave-request: Request advance leave.
  • meeting-room-booking: Book meeting rooms quickly.

3. Example Common Queries

You can ask questions or make requests like:

  • "What is the onboarding process for new employees at PTN?"
  • "What is intranet system of PTN?"
  • "I want to submit a time-off request from 24/6/2025 to 25/6/2025."
  • "I want to book a meeting room from 1h PM 26/6/2025 to 2h PM 26/6/2025"
  • "I would like to request leave 2 days in advance"

4. Important Notes

  • Make sure you are logged into Cursor and have the necessary permissions to access MCP features.
  • If you encounter errors or do not see the tools, please contact your IT support.
