This is a TypeScript-based MCP server that provides web search and scraping functionality using Jina AI services.

• web_scrape - Scrape webpages using Jina AI's Reader service

  • Takes a URL as required parameter
  • Returns clean markdown content from the webpage
  • Free service, no authentication required

Development

Install dependencies:

npm install

Build the server:

npm run build

For development with auto-rebuild:

npm run watch

Setup

1. Get a Jina AI API Key: Visit https://jina.ai/ to create a free account and get your API key.

2. Environment Variable: Set the JINA_KEY environment variable with your API key:

   export JINA_KEY="your_jina_api_key_here"
   

Installation

To use with Claude Desktop, add the server config:

On MacOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json On Windows: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

Debugging

Since MCP servers communicate over stdio, debugging can be challenging. We recommend using the MCP Inspector, which is available as a package script:

npm run inspector

The Inspector will provide a URL to access debugging tools in your browser.
